Summary

The K-Swiss Aero Knit comes on the market with one of the best comfortable tennis shoes to wear. Not only that but you are going to enjoy the durability outsole and lightweight of the shoe.

However, there are some criticisms that come with this shoe such as poor ventilation, lack of support and stability of the shoe. Hopefully, K-Swiss can take this feedback and make the shoe even better next time. Apart from that, you are going to enjoy wearing the street style looking shoe both on and off the court.

Pros

  • Sleek looking design
  • Excellent comfort
  • Nice cushioning
  • Good outsole durability
  • Great traction
  • Lightweight

Cons

  • Poor ventilation
  • Lacks stability and support

Over the last few decades, K-Swiss is starting to compete with big brands such as Adidas, Nike and Asics by making high performing tennis shoes.

For examples, the making of the KSwiss Hypercourt Supreme and KSwiss Ultrashot 2 has gained a lot of success on the market with its awesome features such as durability, weight etc.

The introduction of the Aero Knit has allowed K-Swiss to take a different model on how to make tennis shoes. The core of this shoe is to provide you with excellent comfort and if you are a player that is looking for this kind of feature in a shoe that it’s worth trying the Aero Knit.

In this post, I’m going to write an in-depth review of the K-Swiss Aero Knit tennis shoe and how it can benefit your game tremendously. Let’s begin with the design and cosmetic of the shoe.

Design

Right out of the box, the design of the shoe looks sleek, simple and good looking. The simplicity of the design and colour scheme looks similar to the Adidas Stycon which is the first laceless tennis shoe to be made.

Despite the lack of colour options for this shoe, if you were to ask me which one is my favourite colour I would say the men’s turquoise, black version. The ladies light pink and pastel blue/white are spots on as well.

If you are a player that loves fashion and design then you would enjoy wearing these awesome looking shoes on the court. The great thing about the colour options is they are not bright-looking like other shoes such as Asics Solution Speed FF 2.

Overall, K-Swiss did their homework very well when it comes to the design and cosmetic of the shoe. Moreover, the sleek-looking design which has a street looking style towards it makes it great to wear off-court.

Upper

Without a doubt, the upper is one of the selling points of this shoe. It is made of  Infi-KNIT 3D engineered knit upper which is going to provide you with excellent comfort.

The upper is super comfortable to the point that I would say it’s one of the top 10 or even 5 best comfortable tennis shoe you would ever wear.

However, with all the praise about the upper been very comfortable, it’s not the best breathability shoe on the market.

This can be a big blow for a lot of players who likes to play in very hot and tough conditions. If you are looking for some of the best breathable shoes on the market then I would recommend the Adidas Ubersonic 4 or NikeCourt Tech Challenge 20.

These shoes are going to provide you with tremendous breathability on the court and keep your feet fresh throughout the match. It would be great to see K-Swiss make a huge update with the ventilation in their next edition.

Toe Box, Ankle and Heel Support

Considering how this shoe is designed and the lightweight of the shoe. I would say the toe box is not the best durability on the market. If you are someone who likes to slide a lot on the court or you are a toe dragger than this may not be the best shoe for your style of game.

The ankle area is going to provide you with decent support and cushioning when you wear the shoe. This is fairly okay because you would be able to move comfortably on the court and be able to hit your shot with a bit accuracy.

And lastly, is the heel area. The heel section is well built to keep your heels in perfect position and provide you with good cushioning.

Lacing System and Insole

The lacing system is designed in a peculiar way but it still does a good job. The laces are underneath the upper of the shoe to provide you with a good grip on the court.

This is nice to have because it saves you time from lacing your shoe over and over again. Once your shoe is inside of the shoe you are pretty much ready to go.

There is nothing odd about the insole like the lacing system. It’s going to provide you with a plush cushioning and comfort as you wear the shoe. You would enjoy playing in them.

Midsole

The midsole of the shoe is made of surge technology which is going to offer you good cushioning and energy return. However, the stability of the shoe is not the best on the market.

You are not going to get the full support and stability when moving lethally on the court.

This can be annoying and frustrating for a lot of players when moving on the court because they may feel that they are going to roll over.

If you are an aggressive player or someone who likes to play a speedy game then you may have to be a little cautious when moving around the court.

Weight, Size and Fit

Coming at a weight of 11.1 ounces and a size of 8.5. This shoe is definitely on the lightweight category.

This is going to give you a light and quick feel on the court. If you like lightweight tennis shoes then you would surely like this shoe.

Unlike the Babolat Jet Mach II that has a limited size, this shoe comes with all sorts of sizes for you to select from. And lastly is the fit. This shoe is more suitable for players with a narrow and medium fit.

Outsole

Next up is the outsole of the shoe. As lightweight and comfortable as this shoe is, you are going to enjoy the durability of the sole. It is made of a durable high-density Aosta 7.0 rubber compound.

As the name suggests you are going to have excellent durability on the court.

If you are someone who is very hard on their outsole then you would enjoy playing in this shoe.

The traction of the sole is on the stickier side of the spectrum.

This is really going to give you an excellent grip on all court surfaces and allow you to hit the ball with enough power and confidence. Moreover, with the help of the stickier outsole, you would be able to control your steps and slide well on hard courts.

Colour Options

As I said it earlier on, this shoe does not have a lot of colours to select from. This is a little disappointment for players who like to select colours that suits their tennis outfit. Hopefully, we can see more colour options in the next edition.

Price

The last point that is worth talking about is the price of the shoe. It comes above the $100 price point which is a fantastic price point consider the amazing comfort this shoe brings.

However, there are some areas that need a lot of improvements such as stability and support. If you want less expensive shoes then you want to check out NikeCourt Lite 2 or Mizuno Wave Exceed Tour 3These shoes are not expensive like the Aero Knit and it comes with great features as well.

Final Thoughts!!

As this post about the in-depth review of the K-Swiss Aero Knit comes to an end, I hope you have found it very useful and knowledgeable. As you can see this shoe is going to provide you with comfort, lightweight and outsole durability.

On the other hand, there are some areas that need some improvements such as the poor breathability, lack of support and stability of the shoe. If K-Swiss manages to improve these issues in their next update then this shoe can become a powerhouse like the K-Swiss Hypercourt Supreme.

Despite its criticisms, it’s still a nice looking shoe and I wish you a lot of success with this shoe in your future matches.
