Wilson Kaos Swift In-depth Review For Both Men and Women

Wilson may be underestimated when it comes to making high-performing shoes. Honestly, I got to say that they are not that bad and in fact, they are taking tennis shoes to a new level. They recently released three different tennis shoes that have similar models.

They are the Wilson Kaos Mirage, Wilson Kaos Rapide, and Wilson Kaos Swift. All of these shoes have similar features that are going to help you perform well on the court. However, in this post, I’m going to focus solely on the Wilson Kaos Swift and its features on how it can allow you to perform well on the court. If you are ready let’s start off with the design.

Design

Straight out of the box, the shoe looks clean and nice. Wilson did a great job with the colour selection and how they combined them to make it look awesome. I got to say both the men’s and women’s designs are spot on and they are sleek looking.

If you were to ask me which one is my favourite shoe colour of all of them? I would go for the women’s white/blue. The white colour makes the shoe really stand out. Also, the men’s black/blue/red are good looking as well. Overall, Wilson did their homework really well when it comes to the design.  

Upper

Let’s take a closer look at the upper because it’s very interesting. Firstly, it’s made of a combination of synthetic materials and SkinGuard. The purpose of this is to provide you with lightweight protection, stability, and flexibility. This helps with your movement and sliding on the court.

Secondly, since the shoe is made of the synthetic upper material. You are going to get good breathability.

This is going to be helpful for your game because it would enable you to play in hot weather conditions whiles keeping your feet fresh.

The way it does that is the synthetic material allows the moisture to leave the shoe quickly while at the same time welcoming fresh air. The only downside to the upper material is the lack of durability.

I wouldn’t say it’s the best durability upper on the market so if you like to wear your upper quickly then you want to take some caution when playing in these.

Toe Box

The size of the toe box is going to give you a good fit and protect you from getting any serious injury. Also, the side of the toe box is made of a rubber medial drag pad which is not going to be the most durable.

If you are a toe dragger and want tennis shoes that can protect your toe box then I highly recommend these best tennis shoes for toe draggers. You are going to find it helpful at selecting a shoe that can prevent your toe box from wearing out quickly.

Heel Counter and Ankle Support

This shoe may not have the longest heel counter on the market but it does really well to keep your heels in perfect position. This really helps you to move well on the court. Moreover, you are going to get really good ankle support when you wear this shoe.

Tongue and Lacing System

The shoe comes with a well-padded tongue to provide you with comfort and cushioning when you wear the shoe. This puts less pressure on your arch and makes movement on the court more comfortable on your feet.

One of the key features that make the Kaos series different from other tennis shoes is the lacing system.

The Wilson Kaos Swift may not be like the traditional lacing system however it does a really good job at providing you with excellent support and stability.

Also, you are going to get a good fit from the lacing system. This makes you more comfortable when playing in them and helps you to move well on the court.

Weight

The weight is another strength of this shoe. It comes with a weight of 11.9 ounces and size 10.5. This puts this shoe in the lightweight category. This would give you an advantage when playing in this shoe because it would increase your speed.

Insole and Midsole

The insole is nicely made to provide you with good comfort when you wear the shoe. This is great at keeping your feet stable and comfortable when playing intense rallies in the match. 

The midsole is made of lightweight EVA midsole which does really well to provide you with a blend of cushioning and low to the ground court feel. This really helps with your movement and keeps you stable.

Moreover, the R-DST+ technology is in the heel area to provide you with more cushioning and energy return for explosive movements. This really gives you support during rallies and allows you to hit the ball with enough power.

Fit

The shape and size of the shoe make it suitable for players who have a narrow to medium foot. If you have a wide foot then I wouldn’t recommend this shoe. Instead, you want to try other shoes such as the NikeCourt Air Zoom Vapor Pro or ON The Roger Advantage.

The shoe may require some break-in period so be a little patience when you wear the shoe for the first time. Also, the shoe is true to the length which means you don’t have to go either a half size up or down.

Outsole

Now let’s look at the outsole. The Wilson Koas series have all got the same outsole tread pattern. The tread pattern is done in a simple way which does a really good job at providing you with excellent traction on all court surfaces.

This is awesome because it would allow you to slide and move effectively on the court without losing your balance.

In addition, the Duralast rubber material does really well to provide you with good abrasion resistance.

The outsole is not going to be the most durable on the market. If you are someone who tends to be aggressive on your outsole or wear them quickly then you want to try a different tennis shoe such as the Asics Court FF2.

The Court FF2 is going to provide you with excellent outsole durability.

Colour Options

This shoe was recently released on the market and does not come with many colour options to choose from like other shoes such as the Asics Solution Speed FF. Although, I’m hoping that as the season progresses Wilson would release more colours for players like you to choose from.

Price

In terms of pricing, the Wilson Kaos Swift is the least expensive shoe compared to the other two Wilson Kaos. This makes it great for every player to afford. And the good thing is that it comes with quality features that can help you play better.

Final Thoughts!!

In summary, this innovative tennis shoe is going to add a lot to your game such as comfort, stability, and lightweight. You would be able to move quickly on the court and go for your shots. However, the biggest thing that needs improvement in the shoe is the outsole. It would be great if Wilson can sort it out in their next iteration.
