Summary

The Wilson Rapide is another collection added to the Kaos family. This shoe is going to provide you with speed,  flexibility, and breathability.

However, it’s not going to be the most durable shoe on the market and it’s not suitable for players who have a wide foot. Overall the nice-looking shoe would be a great shoe to wear on the court and it would help you to perform well.

Pros

  • Super lightweight
  • Good traction
  • Snug fit
  • Nice looking shoe
  • Comfortable and stable

Cons

  • Not suitable for wide foot

The Wilson Kaos Rapide is one of the three shoes on the Wilson Koas series list. This shoe comes with unique features that are a little different from your normal tennis shoes. Despite how different they may look, they do a really good job at helping you to perform well on the court and even take your game to the next level.

If you feel that this shoe would suit your style of tennis then you are in for a nice ride because it’s fun and cool playing in them. In this post, I’m going to provide you with a thorough in-depth review of the Wilson Kaos Rapide. If you are ready let’s start with the shoe design.

Design

Right out of the box, the shoe looks amazing and simple. The colours Wilson selected to make the shoe are spot on. Both the men’s and women’s designs are nice looking. The cosmetic and design makes the shoe look cool to even wear off the court. If you are someone who loves fashion and design then you would enjoy wearing this shoe onto the court.

Upper

Let’s take a closer look at the upper because it’s very interesting. Firstly, it’s made of synthetic materials to make the upper feel light when playing in them. Also, it’s going to provide you with good support and flexibility. This enables you to move effectively on the court without losing your balance.

Secondly, the use of synthetic material is going to make the shoe breathable.

This is great when playing in hot condition because moisture can leave the shoe quickly whiles allowing fresh air to enter. This helps your feet to stay dry throughout the match.

And lastly is the durability of the upper. It’s not going to be the most durable upper on the market.

Therefore, if you are a player that likes to slide a lot or drag their toes, then this shoe may not suit you. It’s better if you try other shoes such as Asics Gel-Resolution 8 because the upper material is really good at providing you with excellent durability.

Toe Box

The size of the toe box is going to give you a good fit and protect you from getting any serious injury. Also, the side of the toe box is made of a rubber medial drag pad which is not going to be the most durable.

If you are a toe dragger and want tennis shoes that can protect your toe box then I highly recommend these best tennis shoes for toe draggersYou are going to find it helpful at selecting a shoe that can prevent your toe box from wearing out quickly.

Heel Counter and Ankle Support

Just like the Wilson Kaos Mirage, this shoe does not have the longest heel height on the market. However, it does a good job at keeping your heels in perfect position as you move around the court. Also, you are going to get good ankle support when you wear the shoe.

Tongue and Lacing System

The shoe comes with a well-padded tongue to provide you with comfort and cushioning when you wear the shoe. This puts less pressure on your arch and makes movement on the court more comfortable on your feet.

One of the things that make the Wilson Kaos unique and special from most tennis shoes on the market is their lacing system.

They look peculiar but they do a great job at keeping your feet stable throughout the match. For example, the Kaos Rapide comes with a cinch lacing system.

The purpose of this lacing system is to help you get the perfect fit when you wear the shoe and keep your feet very stable.

Weight

Another key strength of the shoe is the weight. The shoe comes with a weight of 11.7 ounces with a size of 10.5. This makes the shoe incredibly lightweight. It’s one of the lightest shoes you would ever come across on the market. This would give you an advantage when playing in this shoe because it would increase your speed.

Insole and Midsole

The insole is nicely made to provide you with good comfort when you wear the shoe. This is great at keeping your feet stable and comfortable when playing intense rallies in the match.

The midsole on the other hand is made of lightweight EVA midsole which provides you with a blend of cushioning and a low to a ground court feel. This allows you to move and slide well on the court.

Also, the RDST+ technology in the heel does really well to add more cushioning around your foot and provides you with energy return for explosive movements.

Fit

Speaking of fit, this shoe is more suitable for players who have a narrow to medium foot. If you have a wide foot then I wouldn’t recommend this shoe. Instead, you want to try other shoes such as the NikeCourt Air Zoom Vapor Pro or ON The Roger Advantage.

The Kaos Rapide does not require any break-in period which is great because it would allow your feet to adjust quickly when you wear it for the first time. Moreover, it’s true to the length which means you don’t have to go either a half size up or down.

Outsole

Next up is the outsole. It has the same tread pattern as the Kaos Mirage which does really well to provide you with excellent traction on all court surfaces.

This is awesome because it would allow you to slide and move effectively on the court without losing your balance.

Furthermore, the Duralast rubber material does really well to provide you with good abrasion resistance.

The outsole is not going to be the most durable on the market. If you are someone who tends to be aggressive on your outsole or wear them quickly then you want to try a different tennis shoe such as the Asics Court FF2.

The court FF2 has excellent outsole durability which would do a good job at keeping your shoe for a long period of time.

Colour Options

The shoe was recently released on the market and does not come with many colour options to choose from. Although, I’m hoping that as the season progresses Wilson would release more colours for players like you to choose from.

Price

The shoe is nearly $200 which is on the high end of expensive products when it comes to tennis shoes. It has the same price point as other tennis shoes such as the Nike Air Zoom Vapor Cage 4The Wilson Kaos Mirage may be expensive to afford but it comes with amazing features that can help you to play better on the court.

Conclusion!!

As this post comes to its conclusion, I hope you have found it very useful and helpful to understand the features of the Wilson Kaos Mirage. The core of this shoe is to bring speed and energy to your footwork. This would allow you to be more aggressive in your game and go for the big points.

However, the downsides to this shoe are the lack of colour options and lack of durability. Apart from these few criticisms of this shoe, it’s such an amazing-looking shoe to wear on the court and it’s going to give you excellent traction to maintain your balance during rallies.
