ON The Roger Advantage In-depth Review For Both Men and Women

Roger Federer has not been on the tennis tour for a while now due to an injury. However, he would be making his comeback at the 2021 ATP Doha open. This is good news for both the fans and the tennis tour because everyone misses him.

Not only it is going to be great news but he comes with a new stylish tennis shoe. This shoe is called the ON The Roger Advantage which is a collaboration between ON and Roger. It’s a little bit weird to see a professional tennis player make a lifestyle shoe with a running shoe company. That is Federer for you because he always does the impossible and makes it look easy and elegance at the same time.

In this post, I’m going to provide you with an in-depth review of the ON The Roger Advantage and how you can benefit from it when you play with it on the court. Let’s begin with the design and cosmetic of the shoe.

Design

Right out of the box, the design and cosmetic of the shoe look simple, sleek and nice at the same time. Although, when you take a closer look at the shoe it has a traditional look and feel to it. It’s like the type of shoe they wore back in the 1990s and during Wimbledon.

From my perspective, I feel that when Roger collaborated with ON to make this shoe, they wanted to make a modern tennis shoe whiles at the same time incorporating some of the tennis shoes that have been worn throughout history by his favourite players such as Rod Laver.

Moreover, the design and look of the shoe make it a lifestyle shoe that you can wear outside of the court. Overall it’s such a classic and elegant tennis shoe that truly reflects Roger Federer’s style of player and the type of person he is.

Upper

Next up is the upper of the shoe which is very interesting with the way it is made. The upper is made of soft vegan leather which is another way of saying that this shoe is made of synthetic or fake leather. You would notice that most of the upper are covered with the soft vegan except the heel cup area.

The upper leather is going to provide you with good protection when you slide on the court and move aggressively on the court. On top of that, you are going to enjoy the comfort of the upper.

In terms of breathability, I wouldn’t say it’s the best shoe on the market but I would say it does a decent job with the help of the small holes around the upper.

If you are looking for an excellent breathability tennis shoe then I would recommend the Adidas Ubersonic 4. You would enjoy the fresh air entering the shoe and the moisture leaving it quickly.

And lastly, the use of inner sock and performance sockliner together does really well to provide you with the ultimate step-in sensation when you slid your foot inside of the shoe.

Heel Cup, Tongue and Lacing System

The heel area is covered with a strong heel cup to provide you with protection and keep your heels in a perfect position. This would help you with your movement on the court.

The tongue is a nice padded material that is going to provide you with excellent comfort and cushioning when you put your feet inside of the shoe.

Also, there is a leather hole attached to the tongue for you to use when lacing so that the tongue is stable and doesn’t distract you when playing the match. And lastly is the lacing system which has extra lacing holes for you to use for more grip and stability.

Midsole and Insole

The midsole is made of speed board technology. Some of you are thinking what the heck is that? Let me help you out. Basically, the speed board technology is one long shank that runs from the heel to the toes. Also, the speed board is really thick and rigid.

Moreover, a CloudTec cushioning is incorporated into the midsole to give you a custom strike even if you have a heel striker, midfoot striker and even forefoot striker.

This would give you a good energy return. Also, the cloud pods would offer you a lot of cushioning if you have pain in your forefoot.

And lastly is the insole. The shoe comes with a thick EVA insole which is going to provide you with some cushioning.

Weight, Size and Fit

The shoe comes with a weight of 11 ounces and a size of 10.5. This shoe is on the lightweight spectrum which is great for your game because you would be able to move quickly on the court. The ON The Roger Advantage comes in different sizes which is great because you can select which one suits you the best.

In terms of fit, the shoe does not require any break-in period and it’s true to size. Furthermore, it’s very comfortable when you wear them and it’s suitable for players who have a medium to wide foot.

Colour Options

Another great thing about this shoe is that it comes with many colour options to choose from. This is great because you can select which colour suits your outfit.

Outsole

The outsole is made of rubber compound in a modified herringbone pattern which is going to provide you with superior grip on different surfaces. On top of that, the outsole is incredible durable which you are going to enjoy wearing.

The Different Types Of Rogers

Believe it or not but there are three types of THE ROGERS. They are THE ROGER Clubhouse, THE ROGER Centre Court and THE ROGER Advantage. All of these shoes have similar features and you are going to enjoy the benefits both on and off the court.

Price

Without a doubt, this shoe is very expensive. Although it comes with amazing features that can help your game on the court. However, with that amount of money, I personally think it’s too much. If you are on a lower budget and want a good shoe to wear on the court then I would recommend the Nike Lite 2.

In conclusion, of the ON The Roger Advantage in-depth review, it’s pretty clear that this shoe comes with a street style looking design and nice cushioning. If you are someone who is looking for this type of shoe then you would enjoy wearing it both on and off the court.

However, the biggest downside to this shoe is how expensive it is. Going forward it would be great to see Roger and ON make these types of the shoe but at a lower price so that all types of players can afford them.
