Asics has established itself as the go-to brand when it comes to making high-performing, comfortable and stable shoes. Another key trait of the Asics line of tennis shoes is how they continue to improve on their next iteration.

This process is awesome because they get to collect a lot of players feedback and try to make the next version even better. However, the downside to this process is that most players and fans sometimes get confused with the different shoes available due to the similarities in the name, features and others.

A good example is what are the key differences between the Asics Gel-Game 7 and Gel-Dedicate 6? A lot of people are really confused between these shoes so in this post I’m going to simplify things for you to make it more understanding. Let’s begin with the design and cosmetic of both shoes.

Design

Editor Rating:

  • Gel-Game 7 – 4/5
  • Gel-Dedicate 6 – 5/5

In terms of design and aesthetic, right out of the box the Asics Gel-Dedicate 6 looks stunning than the Game 7. The Asics Gel-Game 7 looks rather boring and dull from my point of view.

I would have liked the Game 7 to be more sleek looking, attractive and colourful like other Asics shoes such as the Asics Solution Speed FF 2. Overall, I would say the Gel-Dedicate comes on top here.

Upper

Editor Rating:

  • Gel-Game 7 – 4/5
  • Gel-Dedicate 6 – 4/5

One of the major differences between these shoes is the upper material used and the benefit you get from each of them.

Asics Gel Game 7 upper

The Gel-Game 7 is mostly made with a combination of mesh and synthetic material. The combination of these materials does a really good job of enveloping your feet in breathable comfort.

This is fantastic because it helps your feet stay fresh throughout the match.

The Gel-Dedicate 6 on the other hand is heavily made of synthetic material. The purpose of this is to provide you with excellent stability and help reduce in-shoe slippage for a smooth, distraction-free ride.

As you can see from the upper each shoe is unique in its own ways and would benefit you depending on the type of player you are. For example, if you are an aggressive player and/or like to slide a lot then you would prefer the Gel-Dedicate 6. It’s all down to personal preferences. Overall, I think it’s an equal point for both sides when it comes to the upper side of the shoe.

Midsole

Editor Rating:

  • Gel-Game 7 – 5/5
  • Gel-Dedicate 6 – 5/5

One similarity between both shoes is the midsole. It is made of forefoot GEL cushioning which is a special kind of silicone placed in the forefoot to supply bounce back and shock absorption.

On top of that, the use of this technology also provides you with a plush and supportive feel underfoot when moving on the court. This helps to reduce your chances of you getting any serious injury when you jump and land onto unforgiving surfaces. Asics did a really good job in this area of the shoe. Again, I think this is an even score on both sides.

Insole

Editor Rating:

  • Gel-Game 7 – 4.5/5
  • Gel-Dedicate 6 – 4/5

The second major difference between these shoes is the insole. The Asics Gel-Game 7 comes with a removable Ortholite Sockliner which is going to provide you with excellent moisture management and comfort. This helps to keep your feet fresh throughout the match and allow you to move with ease.

Whiles, on the other hand, the Gel-Dedicate 6 comes with a removable EVA Sockliner which is going to provide you with firmer cushioning. This is a great feeling to have on the court especially when playing an intense match with lots of rallies.

Although one similarity between these shoes is how you can remove the insole and replace it with your own if you don’t like it. Moreover, you can take it out for it to dry quickly after washing it.

With the insole, I think it’s very hard to pick up the winner but I would give the Gel-Game 7 an edge on this one.

Outsole

Editor Rating:

  • Gel-Game 7 – 5/5
  • Gel-Dedicate 6 – 5/5

The third major difference between these shoes is the outsole. The Gel-Dedicate 6 is made of Trusstic System Technology which is going to provide you with excellent support and torsional stability. This would allow you to move better on the court especially on the clay court surfaces.

The Gel-Game 7 on the other hand does come with a non-marking, solid rubber outsole which is going to improve your grip on different court surfaces.

In addition, it’s going to make you feel lower to the court and a more streamlined feel.

Also, both shoe outsoles are very durable which is a big bonus to have. Despite their differences in the outsole, I still think both shoes are still equal regardless.

Weight and Fit

Editor Rating:

  • Gel-Game 7 – 5/5
  • Gel-Dedicate 6 – 5/5

Both shoes are classed as lightweight tennis shoes which would benefit your game a lot because your speed on the court would improve for the better.

In terms of fit, both shoes have an average width and mid to low arch. However, the Gel-Game 7 feels a little bit lower to the court whiles the Gel-Dedicate 6 feels higher and supportive. Overall I would say it’s a win-win on both sides of the equation.

Colour Options

Editor Rating:

  • Gel-Game 7 – 4/5
  • Gel-Dedicate 6 – 5/5

In terms of colour options to choose from, the Asics Gel-Dedicate 6 has more options to choose from compared to the Gel-Game 7. This puts the Gel-Dedicate 6 above the 7 in this category.

Price

Editor Rating:

  • Gel-Game 7 – 5/5
  • Gel-Dedicate 6 – 5/5

The last point to talk about is the price of the shoe. Both shoes come under $100 which is a bargain especially if you don’t have a lot of money to spend. Again we are square on this point as well.

Final Thoughts!!

As this post about the difference between the Asics Gel-Game 7 and Gel-Dedicate 6 comes to an end. It’s obvious that there are some distinct differences between these shoes and some similarities.

Overall I would say the Asics Gel-Game 7 is specifically designed for players who want a breathable and low to the court feel. Whiles the Asics Gel Dedicate 6 is for players who wants more stability and additional support.

Also, both shoes would be great for recreational players. If you like any of these shoes, make sure to read the full review for them. Until next time keep grinding on the court.
