The Nike Air Zoom Vapor X Air Max 95 comes with excellent breathability, good stability and responsive cushioning. If you are a player that these features are at the top of your list when buying a tennis shoe then you would enjoy wearing this shoe.
However, some of the criticisms of this shoe are how the outsole durability is not that great to support you on the court. Also, the design of the shoe is not that great when you compare it with some of the best Nike’s design over the years.

As the season of 2020 comes to an end, Nike has released a new tennis shoe called the Air Zoom Vapor X Air Max 95. This shoe is the latest version of the Air Max 95 and it’s the perfect time to release it for the start of the 2021 season.
This shoe is very expensive and the big question that everyone wants to know is, is this shoe worth the price?
In this post, I’m going to provide you with a thorough in-depth review of the different parts of the shoe so that you can make up your mind. Let’s begin with the design.

Design
To be fair the design and colour scheme of the shoe is not the best on the market when you compare it with the New Balance Fresh Foam Lav.
I think that Nike can really do a better job with the design of the shoe and make it more attractive and colourful like the NikeCourt Tech Challenge 20.
Upper
The upper of the shoe is made of suede synthetic leather, plastic TPU and breathable mesh. Nike took this approach to imitate the original NikeCourt Zoom Vapor X Air Max 95.
This upper is going to provide you with excellent breathability.
You are going to enjoy the fresh air coming inside of the shoe whiles the moisture leaving quickly.
Although it can get very hot quickly so make sure to watch out.
Lastly, the upper does a great job with stability. It is going to provide you with great stability than even the midsole.
Tongue and Lacing System
The tongue of the shoe is not very thin like the Adidas Ubersonic 4.
In fact, it is connected to the lacing system which is going to keep your midfoot stable and secure throughout the match.
The lacing system is nicely constructed by Nike. The red leather lacing holes are going to help you lace the shoe quickly and give you a nice grip. Also, it would help you with the fit and the holes on the tongue would help keep your feet more stable.
Heel Counter and Toe Box
The heel counter is made of Zoom Air unit which is going to feel springy and at the same time responsive.
This is great because it’s going to keep your feet stable and allow you to move more easily on the court. On top of that, the soft foam inside is going to cushion your feet in every step you make.
The toe box on the other hand has the upper of the material covered there. This is going to make the toe box durable and protect you from potential injuries. This might be a great shoe for toe draggers.
Midsole
The midsole of the shoe is made of Nike’s iconic Air Zoom Unit. The midsole has the same specification as the original Vapor 10. Some of you may be asking why didn’t Nike make any changes? The answer is simple.
First, keeping the same specification of the midsole helps to keep the structure of the shoe.
And secondly, the Air Zoom Unit is more resilient and it’s going to give you a responsive cushioning.
Another key feature of the Zoom Vapor X Air Max 95 midsole is how well it’s constructed with the upper.
This combination is going to provide you with excellent stability on the court compared with the old version and even with the Vapor.
Insole
The shoe comes with a removable insole which is great because you can take it out to dry when you wash it.
Or you can replace it with a new one. The way the insole is designed is going to provide you with comfort and nice cushioning.
Outsole
Now let’s take a closer look at the outsole. If you take a closer look at it you would notice that the pattern is similar if not the same as Air Zoom Vapor X.
This herringbone pattern is going to provide you with an excellent grip on the court.
However, the outsole is not going to be the most durable on the market.
Lastly, the pattern on the outsole is going to be great to use on all court surfaces.
Weight and Size
In terms of weight, the shoe may look bulky in size but it’s not very heavy like you would think it would be.
Personally speaking, I would say that the weight is in between lightweight and heavy.
With size, Nike managed to produce this shoe in all sizes so make sure to check and see which one suit you the best.
Fit
In terms of fit, this shoe can be very tricky to find your exact size. It’s worth testing different sizes in order to find the perfect one for your feet.
Moreover, this shoe is more suitable for players who have a narrow, medium and wide up to 2E. If you are in any of these categories you would enjoy wearing this shoe.
On the other hand, this shoe is not best suitable for players who have flat feet, forefoot pain and ultra-wide feet. If you have one of these feet I suggest you stay away from these shoes and try other Nike tennis shoes.
Colour Options
As of now, this shoe comes in two colour options. They are the white and black/white version. All of them looks great, however, as you can tell the colour options are limited to choose from.
It would be great to see Nike produce more colour options as the season unfold. In addition, this shoe is currently available for only men as of now. It’s not fair on the ladies because they are missing up on a good shoe. Again, it would be nice if Nike can make this type of shoe for women.
Price
I have to admit this shoe is very expensive when you compare it with most tennis shoes. On the other hand, buying this shoe is going to provide you with excellent features and improve your game in many ways.
However, if you are someone who thinks this shoe is still expensive then you would want to check out shoes that are below $100 and some even below $55. All of these shoes are amazing and they are going to help your game as well.
