Fit and Size
The K-Swiss Ultrascendor was one of the best tennis shoes about a decade ago and it disappeared from the market. Now they are back again and no one knows when they would disappear again, so grip one before it’s gone again.
This shoe is going to provide you with excellent lightweight, comfort, stability, and durability. However, the shoe is not suitable for players who have narrow feet. Overall, the strengths of this shoe completely outweigh the weakness and it’s worth checking it out.
The K-Swiss Ultrascendor are back again and it’s a shoe that you don’t want to miss out on. The amazing features of the shoe such as lightweight, comfort and nice cushioning made it the Tennis Magazine “Editor’s Choice” award many years ago.
In this post, I’m going to provide you with a thorough in-depth review of the K-Swiss Ultrascendor. Let’s begin with the design part of the shoe.
The design of the shoe is done in a simplistic way to make it look sleek and nice. The combination of colours that K-Swiss used is spot on. The design of the shoe looks similar to the NikeCourt Lite 2 which is also done in a simplistic way.
The upper comes with leather material. This is going to provide you with excellent step-in comfort and support when playing in it. This means that if you are sliding, moving forward or backwards you are going to get good support and stability.
Also, when you look at the upper material you would notice little holes on top of it. This is going to provide you with good breathability.
This is great because you can play in hot weather conditions without your feet experiencing any discomfort or moisture.
The Ultrascendor comes with a DragGuard toe and Helcor Toe which is wrapped around the toe area to prevent the toe box from wearing out quickly.
This is excellent for players who like to drag their toes or aggressive with their playing style.
Moreover, the shoe has enough room in the toe box area to provide you with comfort and prevent you from getting any toe jamming. This enables you to play freely without experiencing any pain or soreness.
Heel Counter and Ankle Support
The heel counter height may not be that long compared with other tennis shoes such as the New Balance Fresh Foam Lav v2. However, it still does a very good job of holding your feet and heels in the perfect position. This allows you to move and slide better on the court. In addition, you are going to get good cushioning and support from the ankle area.
Tongue and Lacing System
Both the tongue and lacing system are done in a simplistic way to provide you with the best support that you can possibly get. The tongue comes with a well-padded material to provide you with nice cushioning and comfort when playing in them.
The lacing holes may not be made of metal eyelets however the material used is going to last you longer and give you a very good grip. Also, the lacing holes are big enough to make it easy to lace through them quickly.
And lastly with the lacing system is that it comes with a big lacing hole. This is to give you extra grip and support when needed.
The shoe comes with a weight of 12.6 ounces with a size of 8.5. As you can already tell the shoe is lightweight which means it’s going to give you an advantage of you playing at a fast pace.
This would help you to deal with today’s tough and fast pace game. Also, the lightweight of the shoe is going to put less weight and pressure on your feet.
Insole and Midsole
The shoe comes with a removable insole. This is going to provide you with nice plush cushioning and comfort. This makes playing in the shoe fun and enjoyable. Also, since it’s a removable insole you can always replace it with your prefered insole.
Next up is the midsole. It comes with a cushion Board technology paired with EVA cushioning.
The purpose of this is to provide you with excellent comfort, support and stability. This enables you to move and slide on the court effectively and efficiently.
The K-Swiss Ultrascendor is great for players who have a medium to wide foot. If you have a narrow foot then I would recommend that you check out other tennis shoes such as the Lotto Raptor Hyperpulse 100 SPD.
Not only are you going to enjoy the fit of the shoe but you would benefit a lot from its amazing features such as excellent stability, comfort and durability.
The shoe is true to the length which means you don’t have to go either size up or down when selecting your size. On top of that, the shoe does not require any break-in period which is fantastic because your feet can easily get used to the shoe.
Now let’s dive deep into the outsole. It comes with the popular Aosta 7.0 high-density rubber outsole which is going to provide you with good durability. This means the outsole is able to deal with the tough conditions on the court surfaces.
In addition, the outsole is made of a modified herringbone tread pattern which is going to provide you with good traction on both hard and clay courts.
This would enable you to move and slide comfortably on the court.
As nice as this shoe looks, unfortunately, it comes with limited colour options to choose from.
It would be great to see K-Swiss release different colour options in the future. This gives players the choice to select which shoe colour suits their tennis outfit.
The last important point to talk about is the price of the shoe. The shoe is close to $100 which is the average price of a tennis shoe. This is a good price point because it allows every player the opportunity to afford this shoe. On top of that, it comes with amazing features such as excellent comfort, good cushioning, and lightweight.
In conclusion, I hope you have enjoyed reading this in-depth review. The K-Swiss Ultrascendor is the same just when it was first released. You are going to enjoy the nice comfort, cushioning and durability. However, the shoe is not suitable for players who have a narrow feet and it comes with a limited colour options. Overall, it’s a great shoe for the serious player.
