Summary
The Adidas SoleMatch Control is a tennis shoe built to provide you with the best comfort, durable outsole and medial protection for hard court sliders. However, in terms of the weaknesses of the shoe, the stability of the shoe needs improvement. Also, it comes with limited colour options. It would be great to see Adidas release different colour options because the design is amazing. All in well, the shoe is a fantastic addition to have on the market.

When it comes to building and designing quality tennis shoes, Adidas is one of the best brands on the market. Most of the tennis shoes they release always meet people’s expectations.
This month they released another tennis shoe on the market and it’s called the Adidas SoleMatch Control. The purpose of this shoe is to provide you with comfort, durability and protection. The question is does this Adidas meet its objective? Let’s dive deep to find out more about this shoe.
Table of Contents
Design
Right out of the box, the shoe is nicely designed and attractive. The colour options chosen by Adidas are spot on and blend perfectly. This is great because it gives you a cool feeling when playing on the court.
Also, the comfort and durability of the shoe make it fun to wear outside of the court and take to places like the gym. Personally, if you were to ask me what’s my favourite colour I would say men’s white/blue/grey.
Upper
The next part of the shoe to take a look at is the upper material. Let me break it down to make it easy for you.
Firstly, the upper material is made of high-tenacity mesh in sandwich construction which makes it very breathable.
This is great because it allows fresh air to enter the shoe quickly whiles allowing moisture to leave. Moreover, the combined material does well to enhance heel comfort and fit.
Secondly, the combined material does really well to provide you with maximizing flexibility whiles at the same time being supportive.
And thirdly, you would notice the use of ADITUFF RECYCLED material. This means most of the materials used to make this shoe comes from recycled boost material. This helps the environment and prevents society from wasting materials.
Not only that, the ADITUFF RECYCLED material is going to provide you with excellent durability. This is great because you can use it for a long time if you manage to look after it.
Toe Box, Ankle Support and Heel Area
The toe box area comes with enough space to give you a nice fit and cushioning. This is great because it reduces your chances of getting any toe injury. However, you need to make sure that you pick the right size.
Also, the toe box is going to give you good durability. This is great for players who like to wear their shoes quickly.
You are going to get good ankle support and comfort when you wear the SoleMatch Control. This is great at helping you to move better on the court.
And lastly is the heel area. The heel of your shoe is going to lock your heels in the perfect position without putting too much strain on them. This makes sliding and moving on the court easier.
Insole and Midsole
The insole of the shoe is like most tennis shoes. It comes with a removable layer which you can replace anytime with your prefered choice.
In addition, when you wash the shoe, you can take the insole out for it to dry quickly. The midsole on the other hand comes with a full-length bounce material with the TPU foil elements in the midfoot.
The purpose of this is to allow you to change direction quickly without experiencing too much discomfort. On top of that, it gives you a responsive feel which makes it a joy to play in the SoleMatch Court.
Weight
The SoleMatch Control comes with a weight of 13.9 ounces with a size of 10.5. I wouldn’t say it’s the lightest tennis shoe on the market or the heaviest either.
The weight is enough to allow you to move around the court well. However, if you are someone who prefers a lightweight tennis shoes then you want to check out the Asics Solution Swift FF.
Lacing System and Tongue
Both the lacing system and tongue are designed in a simple way but unique. Firstly, the lacing system comes with extra lacing holes to give you extra support and grip when you need it.
Next, the lacing holes are attached with rubber. The purpose of this is to provide you with durability and make it easy to lace the shoes quickly.
Thirdly, there is leather attached to the tongue to allow you to lace through it. This helps the tongue to keep stable and prevents it from distracting you when moving on the court.
And lastly, the tongue is well padded to give you nice comfort and cushioning when playing in them. This is great for your arch.
Fit
The fit of the shoe is a bit tricky. The length is slightly short and the width is medium. Therefore, in order to get the right fit it’s recommended that you go up a half size.
This is essential so that you get a shoe size that provides you with comfort and flexibility when playing in them. In addition, this shoe does not require any break-in period which is awesome. This is because it allows you to adjust to the shoe quickly.
Outsole
Another key strength of this shoe is the outsole. It comes with the unique ADIWEAR ultimate rubber compound which is going to provide you with incredible durability. It’s similar to the Adidas Ubersonic 4 which is built for a lightweight, glove-like fit and is durable.
The SoleMatch Control has an innovative herringbone tread design which does really well to provide you with enhanced abrasion resistance in high-wear areas. This is great for your movement and sliding on the court.
And lastly, the medial protection is built-up for drag feet when hard court sliding. This is great at giving you protection and balance with sliding on the court.
Colour Options
Another weakness of the Adidas SoleMatch Control is the colour option. As of now, both men and women come in two different colours. The men have white/blue/grey and black/green/lilac whiles the ladies have white/mint/grey and grey/orange/pink.
Personally, I would love to see Adidas release more colour options so that players can select which colour style suits that tennis outfit. Not only that but the design of the shoe looks fantastic to wear on and off the court.
Price
The last key point to discuss is the price of the shoe. It comes to around $119.95 which is the standard pricing for a tennis shoe. This makes it affordable for most players.
Final Words
In conclusion, it’s evident that Adidas has achieved its objective in trying to create a shoe that provides you with comfort, durability and protection. If these are the kind of features you are looking for in a tennis shoe then this is the right pick for you.
However, there are weaknesses to the shoe. For example, it has limited colour options to choose from and the stability of the shoe needs improvements.
Overall, it’s a brilliant shoe from Adidas for players who are looking for a medium foot and the price of the shoe is avoidable for most players.
