NikeCourt Air Zoom Vapor Pro 2 Review

It seems both Nike and Adidas continue to be very busy on the market as the 2023 season continues to progress. Each brand continues to release more tennis shoes on the market.

After the incredible success of the NikeCourt Zoom Pro from last year. Nike has decided to release an updated version and make it even better. The core of the NikeCourt Air Zoom Vapor Pro 2 is to provide you with comfort, and durability and improve your speed on the court.

However, the big question that is going through your mind is did Nike manage to deliver what they promise or was it a flop? Let’s dive into the different parts of the shoe.

Design

Right out of the box, the design and colour options used for the shoe are very simple but look cool to wear on the court.

If you look closely at the colours used by Nike, they mostly picked two different colours for each shoe. And each colours they picked blend perfectly with each other and they look good when playing in them. Nike’s logo is enlargened on the side and does well to blend perfectly with the colour scheme.

Personally, the two design that stands out is the men’s white/red/fuchsia and the women’s white/citron/earth.

Upper

Next up is the upper part of the shoe. It comes with a unique stretchy internal sleeve and mesh material for 2 layers. Just like the Zoom Pro the purpose of this is to provide you with the best breathability as much as possible.

This means moisture is going to leave the shoe quickly whiles allowing fresh air. This is great because it helps you to deal with the hot weather conditions and prevents you from getting blisters.

Moreover, the combined materials used for the upper do really well to provide you with support and cushioning when playing in them. This makes it enjoyable and fun to play in them.

And lastly with the upper material, is the durability. The durability that it provides is incredible. If you are someone who likes to wear their upper quickly then you with benefit a lot from this update.

Toe Box, Ankle Support, and Heel Area

Are you a toe dragger or someone who likes to slide a lot? If the answer is yes then this is the perfect shoe for you.

It comes with a solid mud cup which is going to provide you with excellent durability on the hard court. Not only that but it would provide you with good protection which is better than the Nike Vapor 10. The NikeCourt Air Zoom Vapor Pro 2 is going to provide you with a good fit around the toe area so that there wouldn’t be any extra spaces.

The ankle is going to provide you with good stability and support when you wear the shoe. This would allow you to move better on the court.

The heel area comes with a nice padded foam to help with your cushioning and comfort when you wear it. Moreover, it would help you to locate your heels in the perfect position as you move and slide on the court.

The only downside to the heel area is that it does not come with a heel tap to help you to slide your foot into the shoe.

Insole and Midsole

There is nothing special with the insole. It’s not a removable insole however you would enjoy the nice cushioning and support that comes with it.

Next is the midsole. It comes with Nike’s Air Zoom unit and soft foam in the forefoot area which does well to provide you with responsive cushioning and a low-to-the-ground feel.

Also, the full-length foot frame on the lateral side adds stability to your movement. 

Another cool thing about the midsole is how it is shaped. The sharp edge creates a lateral flange. Furthermore, the TPU does well to stabilize your foot and gives you security when moving side to side.

Weight

Now let’s see how much the NikeCourt Air Zoom Vapor Pro 2 weighs. It comes with 12.3 ounces with a size of 8.5. This is similar to the Adizero Cybersonic.

Although both shoes may not be the most lightweight shoes on the market it still does a good job at helping you to improve your movement and speed on the court.

Lacing System and Tongue

Next is the lacing system and tongue. Another change made with this edition is the lacing system and tongue. Both the lacing system and tongue are down in a very simplistic format to make it easy to use.

It has an outrigger lacing system on the inside to give you more grip and stability.

Moreover, on the lateral side of the shoe, it has two lace eyelets but it’s uneven from the medial side.

Overall, the lacing system is not the best system on the market and it’s fairly decent. The same applies to the tongue which provides you with decent cushioning.

Fit

The fit of the shoe is really good and would suit a lot of players’ feet. It’s perfect for players who have a narrow and medium. If you have either of these feet sizes then I would encourage you to go true to your size. Same with 2E.

In addition, this shoe would be great for players who have ankle sprains, neutral feet, high arches and so fore. On the other hand, it’s not suitable for players who are suffering from heel pain, tendinitis, and others.

Outsole

Let’s take a hard look at the outsole because the way Adidas has made it is interesting. It has a digital design although it does not have much tread depth.

With that aside, it’s still going to give you good traction on the court and would make it easier to change direction. In terms of durability, it’s really spot on. So make sure you really look after it so that it lasts you longer.

Colour Options

As much as this shoe design looks simple and cool. It also comes with different colours to choose from which I think is a bonus.

Currently, each of the men and women comes in four different colours. This is great because if you are a player that is a fanatic about designs and colours then you would love this shoe.

Price

The last category of the shoe is the price. It comes around the $120.00 mark which makes it one of the most expensive tennis shoes to be released on the market for this year.

However, the features it brings and adds to your game are priceless. For example, you would enjoy the amazing comfort, stability, and excellent durability that comes along with it.

As this post comes to its conclusion, we can see that Nike has stepped it up with the latest edition of the Vapor Pro series. You are going to enjoy the amazing benefits that come with the shoe such as comfort, breathability, and durability.

However, there are some areas of the shoe that needs improvement such as the lacing system and the tongue. Not only that, but most players may find the shoe expensive.

As much as there are many areas that need improvement, I would say the positives of the shoe completely outweigh the negatives. It’s worth checking out.
