Table of Contents
Design
Right out of the box, the design and colour scheme of the shoe looks simple and attractive. The colours that Diadora selected are spot on and the logo on the side of the shoe blends perfectly well with the shoe.
Upper
Let’s take a closer look at the upper material. It comes with a D-Skin mesh cage which is going to provide you with good breathability. This is going to allow you more air exchange and keep your feet fresh throughout the match.
On top of that, it’s going to give you a lot of security and support which would enable you to move well on the court.
However, the medial area is rigid which is going to take some time to break in and allow your feet to get used to it. And lastly, the medial area is going to provide you with decent durability.
Toe Box
The Duratech 5000 rubber compound which covers the outsole is also used for the toe box. This is going to provide you with excellent durability.
This makes it perfect for players who are toe draggers or aggressive movers. Inside of the toe box area is enough room for all foot sizes. This allows you to be comfortable and stable when playing in it.
Arch and Ankle Support
Since the shoe comes with a lot of cushioning and support, you are going to have good stability in the arch and ankle support. This allows you to move better and comfortably on the court.
Lacing System and Tongue
One of the things that make the Blushield Fly 3 unique on the market is the lacing system and tongue. It comes with a slipper tongue which is going to provide you with a glove-like fit.
In addition, it’s going to provide you with a lot of padded feeling compared with other shoes on the market such as the Ubersonic 4.
The lacing system may not have the traditional lacing holes to lace through, however, the material that Diadora used is going to give you a nice grip when lacing the shoe.
On top of that, it comes with extra lacing holes for you to use if you need more grip and support.
Insole and Midsole
The shoe comes with a removable insole which allows you to replace it with your prefered insole.
Also, if you wash the shoe you can take the insole out to make it dry quickly. You are going to enjoy the nice cushioning and support this shoe brings.
Now let’s take a closer look at the midsole. It comes with a lot of lightweight EVA foam in the heel area and does well to provide you with reinforced arch support.
Also, you are going to enjoy the nice lateral stability that comes with the shoe. This allows you to move well and be comfortable on the court.
Another great thing with the midsole is how the Blushield Fly technology is strategically placed under the ball of the foot for a responsive and springy feel.
Weight
The Diadora SPD Blushield Fly 3 AG has a weight of 15.4 ounces with a size of 10.5. Right out of the box it can feel a little heavy playing in them compared to the Diadora Speed Competition 6 AG which is more lightweight.
Fit
The fit of the Blushield Fly 3 AG is great for players who have narrow, medium and wide feet. What makes this shoe suitable for all player’s foot sizes is the bootie tongue construction. This is because it’s going to expand, pad and adapt to your foot size.
The shoe is true to the length which means that you don’t have to go either size up or down. Also, the shoe comes in medium width which may require some break-in period for some players.
Overall, this shoe is great for players who enjoy a lot of padding, cushion and support in all areas of the shoe. It’s really going to allow you to play well on the court and retain that low to the ground feel.
Outsole
Another area of the shoe that makes this shoe unique is the outsole. It comes with the famous herringbone tread pattern which is going to provide you with a good grip on both clay and hard court surfaces.
Moreover, when you look closely at the outsole you would notice that the mid-foot is narrow and has the herringbone tread pattern to provide you with good stability and traction.
At the edge of the forefoot and lateral midfoot, you would notice a breakpoint on the shoe which is going to allow you to move and slide with ease and comfort on the court.
And lastly with the outsole is the durability. The Duratech 5000 rubber compound is going to provide you with excellent durability on clay and hardcourts.
Also, it has better outsole durability than the BlueShield 5 which is fantastic.
Colour Option
Another weakness of the shoe is the lack of colour options it has. Unfortunately, you are only going to get the white/black colour version. Personally, as someone who loves design and colour schemes, I would love to see Diadora produce different colour options in their next iteration.
Price
The last important point that you need to be aware of is in case you are going to purchase this shoe is the price. It comes around the $120 price point which is a reasonable price for a shoe that is unique.
You are going to enjoy the awesome outsole durability, great traction and stability. However, if you feel that this shoe is expensive then I would recommend that you check out other shoes such as the NikeCourt Vapor Lite which is going to provide you with comfort, breathability and lightweight.
Conclusion!!
In conclusion, we can see that Diadora has delivered another unique and amazing shoe for tennis players. It’s a shoe that is going to provide you with excellent durability, good stability and support.
However, the shoe requires a break-in period to get used to it and can feel a little heavy playing in them. With that said you are going to enjoy the glove-like fit and how the shoe suits all foot sizes. Overall, the strengths of the shoe completely outweigh the weaknesses which makes it a great shoe to check out.
