Asics is one of the biggest brands in the world and very good at making high-performing tennis shoes for the elite. They continue to take tennis shoes to the next level and amaze their fans. The release of the Asics Court FF 2 did not fail to leave up to that expectation and it’s one of the best tennis shoes on the market.
The shoe was built with the help of Novak and at the core of the shoe is to provide you with great support, stability, and excellent traction on all court surfaces. If you are looking for these kinds of features in a tennis shoe then you have arrived at the perfect place.
In this post, I’m going to provide you with a thorough in-depth review of the Asics Court FF2 and how you can utilize it effectively to play better in games. If you are ready like me, let’s start with the design and cosmetics of the shoe.
Table of Contents
Design and Cosmetic
Right out of the box, the design and colour scheme of the shoe is amazing-looking and attractive. If you were to ask me which one is my favourite colour option for this model I would say the men’s red and blue/amber. The women’s blue is spot on as well.
In terms of the cosmetic of the shoe, it’s specifically designed for the Grand Slam Champion Novak Djokovic for his style of tennis game and movement on the court.
Upper
Let’s take a closer look at the upper. The upper is made of a combination of mesh and TPU materials. The purpose of these materials is to provide you with excellent support and stability. This allows you to move and play better on the court.
Moreover, the upper is reinforced to make sure that your feet are always protected and held in a healthy and strong position.
Also, the shoe has durable overlays which will secure you in a strong upright position.
Another benefit of the upper is that it’s breathable. This means moisture would leave the shoe quickly while allowing fresh air to enter the shoe quickly. This helps to keep your feet throughout the match.
And lastly with the upper material is how flexible and supportive it is.
This will give you better flexibility and heightened stability on the court, keeping you in control of all movements.
Toe Box
The toe box is wrapped with PGuard material to enhance durability. Therefore, if you are a toe dragger or someone who likes to slide a lot then you would enjoy this shoe.
In addition, the toe area is going to fit your feet perfectly without leaving any extra room for you to feel uncomfortable. When you wear the shoe you are going to get a very nice cushion.
Heel Counter and Ankle Support
Asics did a really good job when it comes to the heel area and ankle support. Both the heel and lateral flange have a wide size to keep your heel and foot secure and fit.
This allows you to slide and move on the court comfortably with a lot of control. Despite the heel area being wide on the base, this is not going to have any impact on the weight of the shoe.
On top of that, the way the heel counter is structured makes it great for players who are experiencing knee pain. The ankle area is soft and well padded to keep you comfortable during long hours of play.
Tongue and Lacing System
The Court FF2 comes with a soft and padded tongue. This is going to keep you comfortable and well cushion over a long period of time.
Let’s take a closer look at the lacing system. One of the few criticisms of this shoe is the laces. The laces are too thin to lace with and can feel tight and hurt your feet a little when you tighten them. It’s best if you get thicker laces which are going to make life easier on the court.
Despite the laces been small in size the overall lacing structure is excellent. It has extra lacing holes for more grip and stability. Also, the lacing holes are connected to the upper to provide you with durability.
Weight
The shoe comes in 14.7 ounces and a size of 10.5. This is 2 ounces more than the previous version. I would say this shoe is not the lightest shoe on the market and it’s not the heaviest either.
However, it’s going to allow you to move quickly on the court and you wouldn’t even notice the weight of the shoe as you play on the court.
Insole and Midsole
The insole is nicely made to provide you with cushioning and comfort when you wear the shoe. This is great at keeping your feet stable and comfortable when playing intense rallies in the match. The cool thing is it comes with a removable sockliner which enables you to add your own insole for the perfect, customized fit.
Another thing that makes the Asics Court FF 2 unique and special is the midsole. It is made of FlyteFoam technology like the Asics Solution Speed FF 2.
If you don’t know what FlyteFoam technology is; basically it’s made of organic super fibers that offer you softer and lower density foams.
The purpose of this material is to add a real spring to your movement and make it a more responsive shoe. This helps you to deal with today’s toughness game.
Moreover, an Ortholite Sockliner lies atop this feathery midsole to provide you with more extra layers of plush and hygienic step-in comfort. This enables you to deal with the intensity of today’s game.
Also, both the Rearfoot and Forefoot GEL Cushioning Systems are embedded in the midsole to provide you with excellent cushioning and responsiveness.
And lastly with the midsole is the use of silicone-lie material. This really absorbs shock and protects your feet from getting injuries. Moreover, it reduces your chances of you getting any serious injuries when landing unforgiving.
Fit
Speaking of fit, the shoe is great for all foot types and it’s comfortable right out of the box. Also, it’s true to length so you don’t have to go either up or down a size when selecting your foot size.
Once you wear the shoe for the first time, some players may require some break-in period. This may take about 30minutes to 5 hours to get used to it. Overall, the fit and size of the shoe are generous for your feet to get used to.
Outsole
Next up is the outsole. The way Asics designed it is very fascinating and interesting. Firstly, it has an AHAR outsole which is three times more durable than the Asics standard rubber.
This means it is going to provide you with excellent durability and if you are a player who is very hard on their outsole then you would really benefit from this shoe.
Secondly, the AHAR outsole is going to assist you to make smooth transitions and supply you with durable grip across all court surfaces.
This would provide you with good stability and support as you move and slide on the court.
Furthermore, the shoe benefits a lot from the Twisstrust system.
The purpose of this is to reinforce it under the arch whiles reducing weights and resists the torsion plus absorbing shock. This at the same time allowing the foot a full range of movement.
Colour Options
As for now, there are not many colour options on the market at the moment. However, as the season progresses, Asics would hopefully release more colour options for players to select from. As a tennis fan, I can’t wait to see the different colour options that would release on the market.
Price
The last point to talk about is the price of the shoe. The Asics Court FF2 comes around the $120 price point which is in the same price range as the Asics Solution Speed FF 2. This may sound expensive to some players but in reality, it’s a decent price point for a shoe with amazing features that can take your game to the next level.
If you are someone who feels that the shoe is still expensive to afford then I would recommend that you read the in-depth review of the best tennis shoes under $100. You would find it very useful and help you find a shoe that fits your budget.
Wrapping UP
It’s pretty clear that this shoe is outstanding and every player can benefit from it. You are going to enjoy the support, stability, cushioning, and support of this shoe. However, there are a few downsides to the shoe such as some break-in period for some players and the laces are thin.
Apart from these small issues, the positives of the shoe completely outweigh the negatives. On top of that, it comes with a lot of positive comments from people who have already worn it. I hope you like this shoe and helps you to play better on the court. I would end by saying good luck in your next match.
